Dependent Child Approaching 26 Report Errors
As a follow up to the Dependents Who Lose Eligibility at the End of 2023 BA Memo #23-05 sent on September 26, 2023, the Office of Health Benefits has identified that the Dependent Child Approaching Age 26 report may incorrectly include some dependents that were born in 1998 (age 25). Only enrolled dependents born in 1997 will lose eligibility on January 1, 2024 due to age. In addition, the report may incorrectly include dependents of employees that have transferred to another state agency.
Cardinal is working to correct the report to reflect only enrolled 26-year-old dependents and the agencies current employee population. We will provide notification once the report has been fixed.
Please review the report and exclude the dependent(s) that were born in 1998 and dependents of transferred employees when sending the age 26 notification. If the agency has already provided notification, please contact the employee to request that they disregard the notification.
