Cardinal HCM: HR296 Employee Data Extract – New Field Added

This communication is being sent to Functional Contacts and Technical Contacts for Interfacing Agencies that receive the HR296 Employee Data Extract. HR Directors are copied for awareness.

Cardinal is updating the HR296 Employee Data Extract to add the existing Job Data field: FICA Status. This enhancement reduces the filler space within the extract. Refer to the table below for the specific details of the added field and reduction of filler space:

The filler space at the end of the file will be adjusted to maintain a record length of 1800

For agencies wishing to test the addition of the new FICA STATUS_EE field, Cardinal has created a test file that includes the new field. The file has been placed in your agency’s HCM_Outbound folder on the Cardinal HCM Test File server.

The test file was generated from a Cardinal test environment and contains position and employee data as of 6/30/2025. While the test file displays the file mapping for the new field and provides valid field values, please be aware the employee data itself will not perfectly align with the current HR296 file generated from Cardinal HCM Production.

The updated HR296 Employee Data Extract, including the new FICA Status field, will be implemented during the nightly batch process on Tuesday, July 22, 2025.

This means that all HR296 files generated and posted from Wednesday morning, July 23, 2025, onward will include these updates. To ensure a seamless transition, agencies must complete any necessary adjustments on their end prior to Tuesday, July 22, 2025.

A revised HR296 Employee Data Extract file layout will be posted to the Cardinal website when the changes are implemented in Cardinal HCM Production.
