This communication is being sent to HR Directors and HR Administrators at Cardinal HCM agencies. |
Employee Self-Service (ESS) has been enhanced to display employee teleworking status and the Continuous State Service Date on the Job Summary tile. Developed in coordination with DHRM, these additions improve transparency and provide employees with real-time access to important employment information. |
New ESS Telework Section
The Review HR/Job/Payroll Data page now includes a Telework section which displays the employee’s eligibility and current teleworking status. This information is populated from the position, job, and telework data on the Maintain Teleworkers page in Cardinal. If an employee’s most recent telework agreement has expired, then the Current Status will appear as “Not Teleworking”.
To ensure accurate telework information is displayed in ESS, HR Administrators must maintain telework fields within both Position Data and Job Data in Cardinal. Additionally, managers and employees are responsible for regularly reviewing and updating telework agreements.
Agencies using COV Telework Agreement Application
When telework agreements are updated or renewed in the COV Telework Agreement Application, the new telework days and agreement expiration dates automatically interface with Cardinal. These updates are reflected in the employee’s telework status on the ESS Review HR/Job/Payroll Data page.
New ESS Continuous State Service Date field
The Continuous State Service Date is now displayed in the Performance Rating and Additional Employee Data section of the employee’s ESS Review HR/Job/Payroll Data page. This field is populated directly from the Person Employment Dates section within the Employment Data page of Job Data.
Salaried Employees
Due to variations in leave and years-of-service policies across state government, agency HR Administrators are responsible for determining and entering the Continuous State Service Date in the Person Employment Dates section of Job Data.
For guidance on calculating and updating the Continuous State Service Date, refer to the HR351_Managing Service Dates and Breaks in Service job aid.
Hourly Employees
Since hourly employees are not eligible for leave or severance-related benefits, these fields do not appear on their Job Data and will display blank on the ESS Review HR/Job/Payroll Data page.
