Effective Saturday, November 23, 2024, VITA is implementing an Okta update that will impact the Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) process appearance when logging into Cardinal, when required.
Who is Impacted?
- All Cardinal users at Non-COV agencies and localities
- Cardinal users at COV agencies who are accessing Cardinal outside of the COV network
- All Cardinal users who use a personal email address to access Cardinal
- Retirees & terminated employees from a state agency with access to Cardinal
What has Changed?
When multi-factor authentication is required to log in, users will no longer be redirected to a different screen for authentication. Instead, the MFA prompt will be embedded directly into the Cardinal login screen, regardless of authentication method used, as illustrated in the images below.

To switch your authentication method from the default displayed, click the drop-down arrow beside the icon and choose a different option.
The actual authentication processes have not changed. Please follow the on-screen prompts to successfully login to Cardinal.
