Creative Placemaking Grant

The arts have long been a driving force behind vibrant and thriving commercial corridors. From captivating galleries and dynamic performances to inspiring public art, these creative experiences draw crowds that fill cafés, boutiques and restaurants with energy and life.
Now, Arlington Arts and the Arlington Commission for the Arts are launching an exciting new Creative Placemaking Grant, offering funding for two standout arts and culture projects designed to ignite creativity and attract people to Arlington’s commercial districts. Two (2) $50,000 grants will be awarded to foster meaningful interactions among residents, workers and visitors.
By creating or activating spaces for shared arts and cultural experiences, these projects will deepen community connections, instill a sense of belonging and pride in Arlington, and strengthen the local arts ecosystem. More
 Arlington Chorale: Enthrall

An evening of moving poetry and music awaits you! Featuring the second performance of We Are the Lucky Ones by Jocelyn Hagen, this new commission by the Chorale is set to poems by Julia Singer and Freya Manfred, exploring the roles of fortune and desire in our lives. Alongside Hagen's masterpiece, the chorale will perform Gustav Holst's The Cloud Messenger, a lush, evocative work set to an ancient Sanskrit poem about married love that transports listeners to mystical realms with its storytelling and lush harmonies. You'll also hear a new poem by Bahir Nasiri, a poet laureate of Afghanistan, that offers his perspective on the themes explored in the concert. Conceived by Séamus Miller, this production weaves together four of Shakespeare’s history plays—Henry VI Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, and Richard III—to tell the complete, epic story of Margaret’s rise and fall. Encore Learning Presents: Rebecca Graham, author of "Dear Miss Perkins"

Frances Perkins was the first (and longest-serving) Secretary of Labor and key architect of the New Deal. Beyond her many accomplishments in the US, she helped save countless Jewish refugees fleeing Nazi Germany. As Hitler rose to power, thousands of German-Jewish refugees and their loved ones reached out to the INS—then part of the Labor Department—applying for immigration to the United States, writing letters that began “Dear Miss Perkins…”
