Planning for Arlington's Transportation Future

Arlington County launched Arlington's Transportation Future, an initiative to create a refreshed Transportation Plan that will better address the community's needs; help create a safe, equitable, accessible, easy-to-use, and sustainable network; and guide community investments.

What Makes Voting in Arlington Unique?

Did you know Arlington owns and programs all of our voting equipment? Learn how the County is ensuring elections are safe and secure in this quick video. 

Have you made a plan to vote? Note these important dates for the 2024 Election:

• Oct. 15 – Last day to register to vote (after then, you may register in person at any early voting location and vote a provisional ballot).
• Oct. 16 – Early Voting hours expand and two additional locations open: Madison and Walter Reed Community Centers. Note, hours vary by location.
• Oct. 25 at 5 p.m. – Deadline to request a mail ballot.

Name That Plow!

The Department of Environmental Services (DES) is asking for your clever and pun-filled (and appropriate!) names for the snowplows displayed on the Snow and Ice Map. Check out some icy inspiration and then submit your suggestions (please keep it fun and respectful!). 

• Closing Thursday (Oct. 10)! Give feedback on a proposed residential development at 2480 S. Glebe Rd. (aka the Hotel Pentagon Site).
  
  
• Closing Friday (Oct. 11)! Don’t miss your chance to comment on the County’s application for HUD funding to support homeownership.
  
  
• Jennie Dean Park is slated for another exciting expansion. Check out the draft concept, watch a project video, and share your thoughts.
  
  
• Take a look at the final draft concept design for the Gateway Park Project and share your feedback by Oct. 20.
  
  
• Did you know there are designated, on-street bike routes to the north and south of Columbia Pike? Arlington needs your help to make them better.
  
  
• Stop by an open house on Oct. 23 to learn more about a one-acre park in Crystal City called Metro Market Square. 

• Germany's oldest boys' choir, the Aachen Cathedral Choir (founded in 781), performs in Arlington on Oct. 15 to celebrate over 30 years of the Sister City partnership -- reserve tickets for the special event.
  
  
• During Fire Prevention Week, the Arlington County Fire Department is reminding everyone to make sure you have working smoke alarms.
  
  
• TRAFFIC ALERT: Expect some road closures on Sunday as Arlington welcomes the 40th annual Army Ten-Miler race.
  
  
• The Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) is celebrating its 50th anniversary and will honor CSW alumni at a special event on Oct. 23.
  
  
• Looking for family fun this Halloween season? Nature Spooktacular at Long Branch Nature Center is happening on Sat., Oct. 26.
  
  
• Make sure your Halloween doesn’t end in a nightmare by getting behind the wheel after drinking.
