Join us for an evening picnic on the lawn with family-friendly art projects. There will be music from Grupo Fénix, dance performance from Los Quetzales, and a spoken word performance from Cristi Donoso. Raices Culturales will also present artisan mask maker Rafael Jiménez López’s work for view and purchase. Tasty beverages and bites will be available from pop-up cafe Rossana and delicious tacos will be available from local food truck La Tingeria. Artist David Amoroso will build a large-scale altar on the front portico of the building, and you are invited to bring a photo of a loved one who has passed to be included. Come, be part, and celebrate. More

“Barrelhouse Presents,” the beloved DC-area reading series run by Barrelhouse magazine and small press returns to live presenting with a reading featuring Arlington Poet Laureate Courtney LeBlanc, Hannah Greico, Alexa Patrick, and Simon Shieh. Hosted by Dan Brady, Barrelhouse’s longtime poetry editor, the series ran monthly from 2008-2018 and featured a mix of new and established writers, both local and national. While primarily working out of DC during it’s previous tenure, Barrelhouse Presents will now call El Rey’s new Filing Station venue in Arlington, Virginia, its home. More
