Día de los Muertos Celebration

Weds, Nov 1 | 5-8pm | MoCA Arlington | Virginia Square

Join us for an evening picnic on the lawn with family-friendly art projects. There will be music from Grupo Fénix, dance performance from Los Quetzales, and a spoken word performance from Cristi Donoso. Raices Culturales will also present artisan mask maker Rafael Jiménez López’s work for view and purchase. Tasty beverages and bites will be available from pop-up cafe Rossana and delicious tacos will be available from local food truck La Tingeria. Artist David Amoroso will build a large-scale altar on the front portico of the building, and you are invited to bring a photo of a loved one who has passed to be included. Come, be part, and celebrate. Youth Poems On the Move

The poems of the five winners of the student edition of the Moving Words Poetry Competition are now on-display on all of ART - Arlington Transit buses! Look for them now through March when you ride the ART bus, or view the poems online. Congrats to the authors of these poems!

Use the wood fences crafted by transformative artist Michael Verdon as a tablet on which you can write your thoughts as to "What makes a good neighbor?", or "What makes a good community?" The fences will be converted into picnic benches for gathering community, rather than separating. More

For the NCE Season opening, renowned soprano Sharon Christman joins NCE singing songs of Schubert, Amy Beach, Fanny Mendelssohn and Richard Strauss. The second half of the program will feature Christman singing the famous Schubert song "Die Forelle" followed by Schubert's exciting Piano Quintet of the same name with NCE. More

Get ready for a spooktacular day of fun at Metropolitan Park! This pawsome event will be filled with art making, a dog costume contest, dog trick or treating, and a pop-up cafe.

Dress up your furry friend in their most creative costume and watch them strut their stuff on the red carpet. Visit art stations to create Halloween-themed masterpieces, including treat bags and doggy bandanas. More

Barrelhouse Presents

“Barrelhouse Presents,” the beloved DC-area reading series run by Barrelhouse magazine and small press returns to live presenting with a reading featuring Arlington Poet Laureate Courtney LeBlanc, Hannah Greico, Alexa Patrick, and Simon Shieh. Hosted by Dan Brady, Barrelhouse’s longtime poetry editor, the series ran monthly from 2008-2018 and featured a mix of new and established writers, both local and national. While primarily working out of DC during it’s previous tenure, Barrelhouse Presents will now call El Rey’s new Filing Station venue in Arlington, Virginia, its home. More
