This nine-piece band grooves through the musical spectrum, as front man/poet/conductor Joe Keyes directs the dynamics from epic crescendos to soft melodies. Add to the mix his deep, commanding vocals, punctuated by tales of love, family, and addiction from Keyes’ six decades on earth.

Join for the annual Pops in the Park concert featuring music by Aaron Copland, Edward Elgar, Saint-Saens, and Andrew Lloyd Webber as well as favorite patriotic tunes. Bring a picnic, your kids, and your dog(s)!

Munit and z Lovebugs are an adorable family band born of the time spent together during the pandemic with Munit (Mama Lovebug) on voice and drums, Gabriel (son Lovebug) on bass, Meezan (daughter Lovebug) on ukulele and voice, Ayana (youngest Lovebug) on voice and being the fun firecracker of the band!

In Reinvention Garage, meet artist Chris Combs and his showcase of once-obsolete household electronics from Arlington that have been reimagined as newly useful devices. Learn how beginner-friendly STEAM electronics can reduce our waste stream: we can reinvent our old televisions, tablets, and household gadgets into magic mirrors, internet radios, and nightlights—keeping them useful for years to come. 

While visiting, you can meet the artist and get an artist-designed Risograph flyer with inspiration for reimagining your own E-waste. You can also trade in or donate unneeded cords, like HDMI or USB cables, with our free cord exchange. More

 

Plus, stop by Chris Combs' open session at The Shop at Central Library on Thursday, July 27 from 4:30-7:30pm! Learn how to reinvent your e-waste as newly useful household objects. Bring your questions, ideas, and e-waste. Chris Combs will be there to help with your homebrew e-waste adaptations and electronic hobby projects. More

Museum of Contemporary Art Arlington: MoCA on the Move at Met Park

Metropolitan Park and Amazon's HQ2 just opened this week! You'll find MoCA there with free art programs and artist spotlights three times a week through the end of October.

  • ReCREATE Outside, Tuesdays, 9-11am: Explore new styles and techniques with the guidance of artists during reCREATE Outside. Taking place in the beautiful Community Garden space of Met Park, MoCA will offer “mindful morning” activities alongside the art making. More
  • Happy Hour, Thursdays, 4:30-6:30pm: Join for social art making with good vibes and visiting artists every Thursday on “the green.” This program features Artist Spotlights from the artists in our community, and fun activities every week. More
  • No Experience Required, Sundays, 10am-2pm: Fun for the whole family! No Experience Required offers playful art making activities for children (and their curious adults) every Sunday morning. There will be collaborative, community-built art works, and opportunities to “make and take” works, too. More

This summer, find your voice with Arlington Public Library as you read and participate in fun programs and experiences. Read for any 30 days before Sept 1 to complete Summer Reading. For every person who completes the 2023 Summer Reading program, the Friends of the Arlington Public Library will donate $1 to Educational Theatre Company, whose mission is to reach underserved communities through high quality theater education.

Join Arlington Public Library for a conversation between author Jeffrey Dale Lofton, Library Director Diane Kresh, and Communications Manager Anneliesa Alprin about Lofton's novel "Red Clay Suzie." "Red Clay Suzie" is his first full-length work of fiction, and it was named a Lambda Literary Most Anticipated LGBTQIA+ Book and awarded the Seven Hills Literary Prize for Fiction. This event supports Arlington Public Library's recognition of National Pride Month. Following the success of Arlington’s inaugural Pride celebration last year, the Polished Kreative is again hosting one of Arlington’s biggest event of the Summer – The Arlington Pride Festival. This year has expanded to an entire weekend celebration and includes the Inaugural Miss Arlington Pride Pageant, The Arlington Pride Festival at Rosslyn Gateway Park, and more events. The festival will feature live entertainment, vendors, food & beverages, live showcase by local artist(s), and more! More
