Help Make Arlington More Flood Resilient

Volunteer with the Community Advancing Resilience and Readiness Together (CARRT) on April 29 to educate residents and local business owners about flood resilience and prepare and distribute kits as part of Arlington Preparedness Month.

• Submit your feedback on conceptual designs to improve safety at several intersections along South George Mason Drive, now through April 30.
• The Vision Zero team is conducting its Annual Safety Engagement to hear about the effect of the program's initiatives to create safer streets. Share your feedback through April 30.
• Provide your input on the revised concept design for the South Four Mile Run Complete Streets project through April 30.
• Arlington is considering improvements on Wilson and Clarendon Boulevards, as well as their cross streets, between North Uhle and North Adams streets. Tell us about your experience at the intersection through April 30 to help the project team create a draft concept for the corridor.
• Arlington Public Schools (APS) is assembling a Steering Committee that will work collaboratively to develop a proposed six-year Strategic Plan for APS. Apply through May 4.
• Learn more about the updated draft Historic and Cultural Resources Plan, which will guide Arlington’s preservation goals and actions, at an open house on May 6.
• Three street improvement projects are being considered in the Arlington Mill, Westover Village and Arlington Heights neighborhoods. Learn more at a virtual community meeting on May 8.
• The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) released its draft Better Bus Visionary Framework to help inform the future of Metrobus around the region. Learn about the draft for the new bus network at a workshop at Central Library on May 10.

• The P.L.A.C.E. competitive grant program will provide opportunities to communities that have had limited access to programming, education and other art services. Apply by April 28.
• Learn about homebuying, home improvement and other housing services in Arlington at the Live in Arlington Information Fair on April 29.
• Spend some time enjoying the spring weather with Family Fun Day at Virginia Highlands Park on April 29.
• The Human Library comes to Arlington on April 29! During this in-person event, library patrons are invited to check out a “human book” for an enlightening conversation about the person’s lived experience.
• Join the Center for Youth and Family Advocacy and representatives from other organizations for Law Day, an interactive community discussion on censorship and control, on May 1 at Central Library.
• 2023 Business Tangible tax filings are due on May 1, 2023, 11:59 PM EDT. Due to the 2023 paperless initiative, all returns should be filed online through the Customer Assessment and Payment Portal (CAPP).
• Nominate an individual who has done exceptional volunteer work for Volunteer Arlington’s 2023 Arlington Cares awards. The deadline for submissions is May 2.
• The County Board is holding a proclamation for Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month on May 3. Watch the livestream.
