Arlington’s Environmental Collection and Recycling Event (E-CARE) returns to Wakefield High School on April 15. Bring your household hazardous materials and old electronics for proper disposal to 1325 South Dinwiddie Street from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Curious about composting, recycling and energy efficiency? Arlington Mill Community Center’s EarthFest 2023 event on April 21 offers a wealth of sustainable living demonstrations, recycled art and take-home projects for all ages.

Celebrate Earth Day at Langston Boulevard

Langston Boulevard’s Earth Day Every Day festival brings fun, family-friendly activities and hands-on environmental learning booths on April 23. Be even more environmentally sustainable by walking or biking to the event in front of Lee Heights Shops.

• What has been your experience with the intersection of South Glebe Road and 9th Street? Provide your input through April 16 to help develop a concept plan for the intersection.
• Learn about the plans for the Wells Fargo/Verizon sites at a hybrid public meeting on April 17.
• Review the draft study document for the Sunrise Assisted Living Special General Land Use Plan ahead of the May 1 Planning Commission public meeting and provide your feedback through April 19.
• Share your thoughts on the final draft of the Upper Bluemont Park Conceptual Design through April 20.
• Attend a hybrid public meeting on April 20 to learn about the proposed plans for the Ballston Holiday Day Inn site.
• Submit your feedback on conceptual designs to improve safety at several intersections along South George Mason Drive through April 23.
• Tell us your thoughts on the Inn of Rosslyn site plan application through April 24.
• The Vision Zero team will host an open house on April 26 to discuss safety improvements made in Year 2 and plans for Year 3 of the program. • 2023 Business Tangible tax filings are due on May 1, 2023, 11:59 PM EDT. Due to the 2023 paperless initiative, all returns should be filed online through the Customer Assessment and Payment Portal (CAPP).
• Nominate an individual who has done exceptional volunteer work for Volunteer Arlington’s 2023 Arlington Cares awards. The deadline for submissions is May 2.
• Know an outstanding volunteer dedicated to improving or maintaining parklands, natural resources and outdoor public spaces in Arlington? Nominate them for the 2023 Bill Thomas Park Volunteer Award by May 12.

A Reimagined Bozman Government Center

County leadership and staff as well as partners welcomed community members to the renovated Ellen M. Bozman Government Center on April 12, showing new services including the Welcome Center and Permit Arlington Center, celebrating the grand opening of the full-service Courthouse Library, and unveiling an exhibit on the USS Arlington along with a full model of the ship.
