Count Your Joys

Arlington Art Truck: Count Your Joys by Heloisa Escudero

April 2-May 19

Relax and reflect in a colorful artist installation designed by Arlington artist Heloisa Escudero where you will be able to count everything that makes your life joyful. Select a magnet signifying your number of joys and place on the outside of the Arlington Art Truck. You will see the Arlington Art Truck fill up with magnets creating a collage of all the joys we have in Arlington! The community partner for this project is the Department of Human Services. More

Arlington Arts is celebrating National Poetry Month in April by partnering again with Arlington Public Library to host the Poet Is IN booth at multiple library locations. Keep an eye out for the pop-up booth featuring noted regional poets who will create a free, personalized poem just for you in real time.

The Focus Gallery of Gallery Underground will present Waters Of Life a solo show by Gallery member Kate Trygstad. Waters Of Life explores this life-giving force through paintings, in scenes both personal and universal. What does water mean to you? To us? Join on Friday, April 7 from 5-7pm for an opening reception.

Additionally, the Main Gallery features new works by our gallery members, in media including oil, acrylic, pastel, watermedia, sculpture, glass, and ceramics. More

Lee, Founder, President, & CEO of STG International, Inc. with The J. Watkins Distinguished Service Award for her incredible leadership and support for Signature and for making a difference in the lives of people throughout the region.

With special performances by Tony® Award winning Broadway stars Brian Stokes Mitchell, Jessie Mueller; as well as beloved Signature artists Austin Colby, Natascia Diaz, Vincent Kempski, David Merino, Katie Mariko Murray, and Nova Y. Payton. More

Exhibition: “Arlington Volunteers” at Central Library

In April, join Arlington Public Library for the opening reception, a wet plate photography demonstration and a shadowgram sunprinting workshop at Central Library with acclaimed photographer Mac Cosgrove-Davies.

Cosgrove-Davies employed the historic wet plate collodion (or tintype) photography technique to create unique portraits featuring scores of Arlington volunteers. Representing over 30 local organizations and causes, this exhibition spotlights the experiences of dedicated community volunteers. More

Join Arlington Public Library for a conversation with author Vanessa Hua about her novel "Forbidden City". Vanessa Hua is the author of the national bestsellers "A River of Stars" and "Forbidden City," as well as "Deceit and Other Possibilities," a New York Times Editors Pick. A National Endowment for the Arts Literature Fellow, she has also received a Rona Jaffe Foundation Writers’ Award, the Asian/Pacific American Award for Literature, and a Steinbeck Fellowship in Creative Writing, as well as awards from the Society of Professional Journalists, the Asian American Journalists Association, among others. All Black Errything: Pop Culture and Nostalgia from Afrofuturist Perspectives

Welcome to All Black Errything where it’s possible that a mirthful Black history took place! “Errything” is a phonetic moniker of the pronunciation of “everything” in the local dialect of the DMV. As GMU pays homage to their ancestral Native American lands the Monacan Nation, including the Manahoke people, the traditional owners of the lands upon which George Mason University stands. They are also homaging the African descendants who are creating new narratives in the present day. This exhibit will showcase recent artworks by Maurice James Jr., Marqus “Mark” Clark, Eric Charles (Egzo), and duo Black Kirby (John Jennings and Stacey A.
