Amos Paul Kennedy, Jr.'s Arlington's Lunch Counter Sit-ins commemorative print portfolio

Library of Congress gives new home to Civil Rights Commemorative Prints by artist Amos Paul Kennedy, Jr.

In honor of Black History Month, Arlington Arts announces the donations of Amos Paul Kennedy, Jr.'s Arlington's Lunch Counter Sit-ins commemorative print portfolio (2019-2022) to the Library of Congress and the Center for Local History at Arlington Public Library. These prints honor the 60th anniversary of the seven lunch counter sit-ins in Arlington between June 9-22, 1960. The landmark sit-ins were peaceful protests that challenged widespread segregation policies. Each print showcases a quote from a participant at each of the seven sit-in locations. Read Amos Kennedy, Jr.'s article in "Art For the Masses: Poster Collections at the Library of Congress," Library of Congress Magazine, January/ February 2023 Edition (p.28-29).
