Interested in Receiving the Monkeypox Vaccine?
Virginia residents can now complete an online interest form for a monkeypox vaccine appointment through Arlington County Public Health Division (ACPHD). Virginia residents are currently eligible to receive the monkeypox vaccine (JYNNEOS) if they are 18 years of age or older AND identify with any of the following groups:
- Gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men and have had multiple or anonymous sexual partners; OR
- Transgender women and nonbinary persons assigned male at birth who have sex with men; OR
- Sex workers (of any sex); OR
- Staff (of any sex) at establishments where sexual activity occurs (e.g., bathhouses, saunas, sex clubs); OR
- Persons who attend sex-on-premises venues (e.g., bathhouses, sex clubs).
Anyone may express interest in a vaccine, however, only those who meet the above criteria are eligible for an appointment at this time. The criteria for being vaccinated may be updated in the future. Completion of the interest form does not guarantee an invitation to book an appointment. Once a person is selected for an appointment, they will receive an email with additional information.

The 988 Crisis Line is Live Nationwide!
Now in Northern Virginia and in every community nationwide, every person can dial “988” to reach trained crisis counselors who can help in a mental health, substance use or suicide crisis.
Anyone can contact "988" during a mental health crisis and be connected with a trained crisis counselor who can listen, provide support, deescalate the situation, and connect you to additional resources that might help. The Lifeline can respond to any type of mental health crisis or emotional distress. It's free, confidential, and open to a person in crisis OR someone calling on behalf of another.

July: Food Assistance Updates
Summer Meal Pick Up Schedule
Carlin Springs, Randolph and Barrett elementary schools will serve as food distribution centers during the summer school session until July 29. All students 18 and under can pick up free breakfast and lunch daily from 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. Parents and caregivers will be allowed to pick up meals for students.
AFAC Free Grocery Distributions
Ensure that families have access to the groceries they need over the summer (and all year long). The Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) provides free weekly supplemental groceries to Arlington residents in need. Food distributions take place at 2708 South Nelson Street on Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Saturdays from 9 to 11 a.m.; and Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6 to 7 p.m. Photo ID and proof of residency are required. August 3: Learn How to Use Narcan for Free
Naloxone (Narcan) is a safe and effective medication that can reverse an overdose from opioids, including heroin. If you or a loved one are prescribed opioid painkillers, or are taking opioids, you should have Naloxone on hand.
Learn how to administer Naloxone and obtain FREE Naloxone through the mail at the completion of this one hour long training! Information covered includes how opioid overdoses happen, risk factors for overdoses, and how to respond to an overdose emergency with the administration of Naloxone. Register for any upcoming virtual training dates above by emailing narcan@arlingtonva.us.
Right Now: Free, Safe COVID Vaccines
Don't miss your shot! Arlington is still offering free COVID-19 vaccinations by walk ins and appointments for individuals age 5 and older. You can learn more about these clinics here. Arlington County is also offering booster doses by walk ins for everyone 12 years of age and older, as well as additional doses of the COVID-19 vaccine for moderately to severely immunocompromised people. Vaccines for children as young as 6 months are now available by appointment only.
