Veronneau and friends interpret the music of Joni Mitchell's Blue and Carole King's Tapestry. Recorded simultaneously, in the same studio in 1971, the milestone albums changed American music forever; marking the end of the 1960's while putting women vocalist-composers center-stage.

Arlington Artists Alliance: Courage in Color

Aug 1-26 | Gallery Underground | National Landing

Courage in Color is a juried show featuring art from 45 artists from across the United States. Many of the most influential modern art movements relied on the daring, innovative, and often shocking use of color. Whether it was the bold and non-naturalist colors of Fauvism to the unmixed primary colors of the Impressionists to depict reflected light, these movements used color in new and courageous ways defying the accepted concepts of what constituted art. Gallery Underground asked artists to submit work which depict their individual courageous use of color. More

Cultures of Calligraphy

Weds, July 27 |  6-8pm | Mason Exhibitions Arlington | Virginia Square

Mason Exhibitions Artist in Residence, Abi Naanseh, will be joined by Chinese Calligrapher, Amy Quach, and Graffiti Typographer, Corey Posner, for a calligraphy exchange event. All three artists practice their own unique forms of calligraphy and will have the opportunity to swap tools and surfaces to explore each other's calligraphic media. The artists will also discuss their personal backgrounds and artistic inspirations. The works produced at this event will remain on view until August 6 along the current solo exhibition Pressure, Movement, Effect by Abi Naanseh. More

Join us for a Sunday afternoon of live music! The Library will welcome the Morpheus Chamber Players as well as Andrew Chukwuka Egbuchiem (Countertenor) and Grace Reid (piano). The Morpheus Chamber Players will perform pieces from an eclectic collection of composers: Valerie Coleman, Duke Ellington, Malcolm Arnold, Amy Beach, and Eric Ewazen. Andrew Chukwuka Egbuchiem and Grace Reid will perform music of Vivaldi, Handel, Weill, Schubert, Gershwin, and others. More
