Enchanting Elgar, the English Romantic

National Chamber Ensemble's season opens with a tribute to the most famous British composer, Sir Edward Elgar. The concert will feature a unique string arrangement of his famous heroic Enigma Variations + the gorgeous String Serenade. Gilbert and Sullivan's lively Overture to the "Mikado" opens the British program. Tickets include the in-person performance and a link to watch the recording at home. More

Arlington Artists Alliance: Words Matter

Words Matter is a two-person solo show by Gallery Underground's co-directors Steena Fullmer and Sandi Parker, focusing on the power of words. Fullmer’s fused glass enclosed in nicho boxes are portable shrines to the words of feminists from around the world. Parker’s acrylic abstracts contain uplifting quotes from a variety of modern-day icons including Michelle Obama, Leonard Cohen and Malala Yousafzai. Join on Fri, Nov 5 at 5pm for the opening reception. More

In her video Private Client Services, artist Maura Brewer learns how to launder money, delving into the intricacies and loopholes of the financial system and highlighting the use of art objects as vehicles to obscure the source of dubiously acquired funds. In this virtual program, Brewer is joined by investigative journalist Casey Michel to discuss money laundering, the art market, kleptocracy, the history of conceptual art, and the nature of money, among other topics. More

Commissioned to honor the 100th Anniversary of the founding of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery, Unknown explores the ideas of war, honor, and memory through the eyes of soldiers, family members, and Tomb Guards who are connected to each other and the Tomb through their mutual service and sacrifice.
