Jazz is back in Rosslyn this September with local artists, food trucks, drinks, merch and more! Beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 18, we're bringing three local acts to the stage in Gateway Park for an afternoon of food, music and fun as the culmination of a series of events celebrating jazz. Jazz Fest is FREE and registration is strongly encouraged to help ensure the safety of attendees. Arlington Art Truck: Chromatic Curiosity

Capture the excitement and wonder of a child with a magnifying glass and re-envision the world around you: Chromatic Curiosity provides visitors with a collection of shaped mirrors and colored lenses to creatively explore their surroundings. Manipulative mirrors redirect the sun’s beams, and brightly hued lenses transform ordinary colors into fantastic spectacles. With these tools, form radiant new light compositions on the ground, building walls, or other objects around the Arlington Art Truck. More

Argentine’s annual Festival is back for its 34th iteration, this time with the theme “Together: Celebrating Argentina!”. Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with a full day of Argentine culture and Latin American exhibitors, featuring dancers, singers, folk, rock, pop, tango and world music performers. The festival will also include vendors and artisans of traditional crafts ranging from jewelers to weavers. Afternoon activities include Kids Draw ideas, family soccer and a children's show by Sonrisas y Lagrimita. More

 

 

Arlington Visual Arts Studio Tour (AVAST)

Visit the studios of 48 Arlington artists! At each location, visitors can meet the artist and see their work, processes and studio spaces, many of which are rarely open to the public. Different studios feature paintings, ceramics, metals, photography, and more. The weekend event will begin with a launch party on Fri, Sept 24, 5-7pm, at the Cody Gallery at Marymount University. More

They highlight the human impact of bureaucratic institutions, from the professional relationships between artists and arts organizations, to the obscure workings of financial systems, to the violent and deadly consequences wrought by global empires. Bilbo, one of the most conservative of all Hobbits, is asked to leave his large, roomy and very dry home in the ground in order to set off as chief robber in an attempt to recover an important treasure. It’s the last thing that any sensitive Hobbit would want to do, but great benefit eventually results—not only for Bilbo but for all of the Hobbits who inhabit Middle Earth—and the hearts of those children and adults who continue to enjoy this kind of magic. Nicolas Carter is a talented and versatile International harpist, born in Minnesota and raised in Paraguay where he learned to play the Paraguayan harp. Carter creates unique performances blending his musicianship with his skills as a theatre artist/storyteller. More

The Rosslyn Reads Book Sale returns with food, music, live performances & more! With a full day of fun programs, plan on a kid-friendly morning, with giveaways from the Arlington Public Libraries Book Truck. Plus, look forward to a craft station and activities for all ages, and a performance of The Miraculous Magical Balloon by Synetic Theater. The grownups can look forward to performances by live bands throughout the day, a food truck and an onsite beer and wine bar.
