Artists throughout the world and the centuries have developed practices that allow them to center themselves and prepare for making art. The same techniques can be helpful in everyday life as well, offering calm and the joy from playful artmakingNo experience with art making is necessary! You may pick one session that catches your fancy or join us for all four sessions. More

  • Session 2: Swirls and Puddles - Learn how some new and simple tools you find on a walk, in your garden, or from around the house, can help teach you something new.
  • Session 3: Fold, Fold, Fold - Reading magazines and newspapers can help us relax or make us anxious. But using origami we can turn them into something that is always fun.
  • Session 4: Tear, Tear, Tear - Let color and texture change your mood and create something new from paper.

Arlington Arts Center Spring Exhibitions

In the main gallery, group exhibition Stretched presents an expanded perspective on contemporary painting, featuring nine artists whose work is rooted in but transcends the medium. The exhibition emphasizes the expansive and multi-faceted approach taken by contemporary artists; incorporating unconventional materials and techniques into their work and expanding beyond the canvas into three-dimensional objects and installations. The Arcanists: SHRINES Livestreams

SHRINES is a set of six art installations. Each one is unique, site-specific, interactive and entirely free. Can't see a shrine in person? The Arcanists have you covered. Streamer, speedrunner and theatre artist Nerissa Hart aka RUBIEHART (she/they) will stream their visits and ritual performances throughout the run of SHRINES as a part of her new streaming series The Adventures of Rubie. The streams will show detailed looks at each Shrine, performances of each Ritual, and the occasional insider interview. More

​The concert title I Can See the Light, a line from Craig Hella Johnson's arrangement of "Light of a Clear Blue Morning," reflects the light of hope we all see this spring as vaccines become available and the pandemic loosens its grip. With songs by British and American composers that embody the journey we've all taken to find joy this season, this virtual concert features both the Arlington Chorale and the students in the Chorale's Youth Community Council. Join for an uplifting musical evening! More
