Among the open positions are:
Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney I (2 Positions Available) – This position is part of a broad band, competency-based system that encompasses entry- to senior level work. ACA I employees will perform a wide range of prosecutorial duties, including evaluating the metrics of criminal cases, preparing them for trial, making appearances in the General District and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Courts and Circuit Court for Arlington County and the City of Falls Church, and advocating in the best interests of the Commonwealth. Requirements include the completion of a Juris Doctor from an accredited college of university plus one to three years of considerable professional experience as a practicing trial lawyer working in a courtroom setting or as a judicial clerk or similar experience.
Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney II (1 Position Available) – This position is part of a broad band, competency-based system that encompasses entry- to senior-level work. An ACA II employee will perform a wide range of prosecutorial duties, including evaluating the metrics of criminal cases, preparing them for trial, making appearances in the General District and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Courts and Circuit Court for Arlington County and the City of Falls Church, and advocating in the best interests of the Commonwealth. Requirements include the completion of a Juris Doctor from an accredited college of university plus at least three years of professional experience as a practicing trial lawyer working in a courtroom setting or as a law clerk.
Paralegal I (1 Position Available) – This employee will manage court dockets that are prosecuted in the General District and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Courts for Arlington County and the City of Falls Church. Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, completion of a paralegal certificate program recognized by the American Bar Association, or one year of experience as a paralegal, legal assistant or legal secretary.
Victim Witness Program Assistants (2 Positions Available) – Employees will provide administrative support to the Victim Witness Program staff and informational support and guidance to victims of crime, some who speak Spanish and may have difficulty communicating in English. Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, completion of a paralegal certificate program recognized by the American Bar Association, and at least one year of experience providing direct client informational support in a criminal justice or court system environment.
