New Development-Related Fees: Effective July 1, 2018

Starting July 1, 2018, Inspection Services Division (ISD) and Zoning permit fees will increase by approximately 2.5 percent for all permit types. Department of Environmental Services (DES) development-related fees will also increase on July 1, 2018. DES’ fees vary; to view the new fees, visit the Building Arlington website. ISD, Zoning and DES applications submitted on or after July 1, 2018 will be automatically charged the new fees.

 

Business Process Updates, Reminders and Improvements 

NEW PERMIT TYPE: Telecommunications Application & Business Process 

Beginning July 1, 2018, customers can apply for a new permit for telecommunications projects as defined in legislation recently passed by the Commonwealth of Virginia. These projects will be processed as Zoning Administration’s administrative review. County staff are currently working on the application packet and customer instructions. The completed business process materials will be shared with customers in the June edition of the Planning + Building eNews.


POLICY: Sealing Drawings by a Registered Design Professional 

View new code interpretation by Arlington County's Chief Building Official (CBO) on the policy for sealing design drawings for minor commercial construction.


REQUIREMENTS: In-Building First Responder Communication System 

Applicants must submit a completed Certificate of Radio Coverage Compliance as part of the In-Building First Responder Communication System application process.
