Improving the street space
Recent street enhancements in Crystal City, Pentagon City
Starting last summer, the County has been installing a variety of short-term street enhancements at multiple locations within Crystal City and Pentagon City. The changes serve as a test of how vehicles, bikes and pedestrians can better share the street space.
Enhancements included:
-
New protected and buffered bike lanes along Army Navy Drive
- Newly enhanced pedestrian crossing on 20th Street South between Bell Street and Crystal Drive
-
Intersection improvements on South Eads Street at 22nd Street and 23rd Street
- Continuous bike lane, with protected/buffered sections, on South Eads Street from Army Navy Drive to Glebe Road
- New green pavement markings at several locations to make walking/biking infrastructure clearer and more visible for all street users
