Utah’s all-of-the-above energy policy has powered decades of prosperity by providing some of the most reliable and affordable energy in the country. Representative Brooks is committed to pushing back on federal regulatory overreach that threatens our ability to provide power to our state. Representative Brooks looks forward to voting for the following bills, which strive to safeguard Utah’s ability to provide safe, reliable, and affordable power.
On Monday, the lives of millions were literally shaken as the largest earthquake in over a decade hit Turkey and Syria. We’ve heard countless stories of bravery and unwavering faith in the face of adversity. Representative Brooks is inspired by their strength and send my thoughts and prayers to the people of Turkey and Syria.
Housing prices have skyrocketed in recent years, making the reality of buying a home out of reach for many Utahns. With help from the Utah Housing Affordability Commission, we’ve identified policies that reduce regulatory barriers at the local level, identify tools that facilitate market-based solutions to our housing shortage, and support options to increase housing in rural Utah. Learn more about these policies below.
House Bill 320 allows the sale of any product derived from raw dairy in the State of Utah. This includes products like raw milk, butter, cream, and butter cream.
Vote: Yes
Rep. Brooks supports this bill because it’s about the free market and allows people to make choices about what products they would like to consume. There are protections in place. Raw dairy products must be properly labeled so if a problem breaks out they know where to find it. In addition, information with the potential risks is also provided before purchase. Rep. Brooks believes those that choose to buy raw milk products understand the risk. Many other “raw” products have potential risks such as raw fruits and raw vegetables. This bill provides access and also ensures that consumers are aware of the risks of the product. House: Senate:

House Bill 228 prohibits therapists from administering conversion therapy to children while ensuring that therapists cannot make suggestions about a child's sexuality and gender identity. This bill also allows minor clients to talk freely about their concerns regarding their sexuality and gender identity with their therapist with out the therapist having to worry about losing their license.
Vote: Yes
Previously a licensed therapist was limited in speaking with minors about affirming their gender with it matched their sex. Rep. Brooks supports this bill because it ensures that adolescents are able to talk to therapists about their concerns and their feelings. How can it be helpful to a person struggling with same sex attraction or gender dystopia if a therapist can not discuss the issues with their client. Therapists in Utah prior to this bill have either been leaving the state or stopped accepting minors as clients in fear that they would not be able to administer proper care to minors dealing with their concerns. This bill allows clients to speak freely and restricts therapists from making suggestion about a minors sexuality or gender identity. This bill provides clarity and freedom for therapists to help their clients. House: Senate:
