House and Senate Pass Bill to Rename Monroeville Clinic
The U.S. House of Representatives and Senate in December passed H.R. 4955 to rename our Monroeville VA Outpatient Clinic for WWII Veteran Henry Parham. Once the president signs the legislation, the clinic will be renamed the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System Henry Parham VA Clinic.
Parham, a Wilkinsburg native, served with the U.S. Army’s 320th Barrage Balloon Battalion. The 320th was the only all-Black unit to land at Omaha Beach on D-Day.
Parham died in 2021 at the age of 99. He and his wife, Ethel, were longtime VA Pittsburgh volunteers. They helped with bingo games, cookouts and field trips for Veteran patients at our former Highland Drive campus and our University Drive campus.
