Rome CBOC Fully Operational
On January 18, 2024, the Atlanta VA Health Care System’s Rome Community-Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) closed due to Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) issues related to freezing temperatures in the area.
AVHACS Health Administration Services contacted Veterans affected by the closure, offering telehealth appointments to minimize impact on patient care.
HVAC installation and repairs were completed on Tuesday, January 23, and the Rome CBOC reopened for patient care at 7:30 a.m. today.
Fort McPherson Domiciliary Water Restored
The health and safety of our Veterans is a top priority for the Atlanta VA Health Care System. Due to low water pressure issues caused by inclement weather at the Fort McPherson campus, Veterans not requiring inpatient care at the domiciliary were transported to a hotel, and Veterans requiring medical assistance were transported to the Joseph Maxwell Cleland Atlanta VA Medical Center on the evening of January 18, 2024.
Based on the weather prognosis, AVAHCS Engineering projected that Veterans would return to the Domiciliary Tuesday, January 23, – contingent upon the Atlanta Watershed’s ability to restore the water pressure.
As planned, Veterans have since been returned from the hotel to the Domiciliary, and those admitted to the VA medical center were discharged yesterday.
