Anesthesia gas is wasted and released into the outside environment in every operating room across VA, contributing to climate change and negatively impacting Veteran health. Less Gas More Green is a low flow anesthesia program that uses human-centered design to lower a facility’s carbon dioxide footprint while reducing anesthesia gas expenditure by approximately 35%. Get Excited for the 10th VHA Shark Tank Competition
|
|
This year, Diffusion is hosting the 10th VHA Shark Tank Competition. The competition empowers frontline innovators to spread their health care solutions by providing exposure to all levels of leadership and an opportunity to replicate their practices to new VA facilities.
Applications open April 1, 2024. All VHA employees with an innovation implemented in at least one VHA facility can apply. The applicant’s pilot site fulfills this requirement. Applicants must collect at least three months of implementation data proving their practice’s effectiveness.

Innovators Collaborate at Base Camp and Diffusion Academy
|

From January 31 to February 2, VA innovators gathered in Asheville, NC for this year’s Diffusion of Excellence Base Camp and VHA Diffusion Academy.
During Diffusion of Excellence Base Camp, 2023 VHA Shark Tank winning practice teams received training to plan for replicating their practices to new VA facilities over the next 6-9 months.

During VHA Diffusion Academy, seasoned innovation teams from across VHA came together to develop business cases for further growth and sustainment over the next 1-3 years.

2024 Diffusion Talent Accelerator Orientation

On January 3, Diffusion held the inaugural Diffusion Talent Accelerator (DTA) Orientation in Washington, DC. DTA is a new training and mentorship program for VISNs and VHA National Program Offices who wish to strengthen their ability to replicate and scale employee-developed health care solutions. The orientation marked the beginning of the one-year training program for the first cohort of DTA specialists. |

Over the course of the next year, DTA participants will be paired with a mentor from Diffusion and provided with several training and networking opportunities as they work toward replication and scale of their capstone projects. After the first year of the program, these Diffusion Specialists will have the skills needed to stand up a Diffusion program in their respective offices.
Applications for the second DTA cohort are open through February 23, 2024. If you are a VISN or VHA program office leader interested in applying, please complete the DTA Application. FLOW4 is the latest iteration of the FLOW system aimed at centralizing the prosthesis ordering process for Veterans and VA prosthetic care teams. The practice offers seamless integration into VA’s new electronic health record system and allows Veterans to track device orders.
