The Winter Weather Advisory has expanded (late tonight through late Wednesday morning) to include Carroll, Douglas, Fulton, Paulding, and Forsyth counties -- with the threat of light freezing rain/drizzle very late tonight through 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 17, 2024.
- We anticipate a blast of arctic air moving in overnight, and a large decrease in temperatures.
- Please take caution as the precipitation combined with low temperatures can create road hazards.
- Slick spots may develop, particularly in areas that received recent rainfall, and freezing rain may occur and produce a glaze of ice.
- A Wind Chill Advisory will go into effect at 5:00 p.m. this afternoon through 10:00 a.m. Wednesday morning for dangerous wind chills across north Georgia and portions of central Georgia.
- Veterans, caregivers, and family members are encouraged to use discretion and take precautions to remain safe during inclement weather.
Please note: a delayed start, beginning at 9:00 a.m. EST for the following community-based outpatient clinic (CBOC) locations on Wednesday, January 17, 2024:
- Blairsville CBOC
- Pickens CBOC
- Rome CBOC
- Health Administration Services (HAS) will directly contact Veterans regarding appointments at the three noted CBOC locations.
Normal operations remain in place for all other AVAHCS locations.
Additionally, please take time to prepare for potential power outages or frozen pipes in your home. For more information and tips on preparing for winter weather, visit Ready.gov.
