The Pap Hub and Spoke Program is an evidence-based care delivery model that promotes screening and vaccination to reduce the risk of women Veterans dying from cervical cancer. Launched in January 2022, the program has improved cervical cancer screening participation, timely results communication, and the management of abnormal test results, as well as received excellent provider and patient satisfaction ratings. The program won the VA Women’s Health Research Impact Award and Pitch of the Day as a 2023 VHA Shark Tank Competition finalist. Cohort 9 Promising Practices
|
Innovators of Diffusion’s 9th cohort of Promising Practices, winners of this year’s VHA Shark Tank Competition, will attend Diffusion’s Base Camp in January 2024 to develop a plan for replicating their practices to new VA facilities. The practices each align with one of the VA health care priorities: (1) accelerate VA’s journey to a High Reliability Organization, (2) prevent Veteran suicide, (3) support Veterans’ whole health, caregivers and survivors, and (4) support Veterans’ whole health, caregivers and survivors.

Highlighting The Surgical Pause

The National Quality Forum Webinar recently featured the Surgical Pause, a National Diffusion Practice. Dr. Daniel Hall shared findings from the Surgical Pause intervention that can identify frail patients in as little as 30 seconds to support goal clarification prior to surgery, empower some patients to elect nonoperative treatment plans, and offer strategies to mitigate frailty associated risks.
