Tuscaloosa VAMC is now offering the updated 2023/2024 COVID-19 vaccine that protects against the new strain of the virus.
Call (205)554-2000 ext. 3318 to schedule your appointment. Vaccines are given in our Vaccine Clinic located in Building 38, 2nd Floor, Room 228. Vaccine Clinic Hours of Operation: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 3:30 pm (closed daily from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm)
This is the third time the COVID-19 vaccine has been updated and the new vaccine targets the newer strain of the COVID-19 virus. These vaccines are available at no cost to Veterans enrolled at the Tuscaloosa VAMC. VA also offers free COVID-19 testing to eligible Veterans within our Veteran Sick Call Clinic Monday-Friday from 8:00 am-3:30 pm. It is safe to get the COVID-19 vaccine, flu vaccine and other vaccines at the same time.
Due to changes in the virus and waning immunity, it is important to get the updated 2023/2024 COVID-19 vaccine as soon as you are eligible. The updated dose must be given at least two months after any older COVID-19 vaccine dose. Anyone who has not yet received any COVID-19 vaccine should receive one single dose of the updated 2023/2024 vaccine.
Additionally, people with moderately to severely immunocompromising conditions may receive additional updated 2023/2024 COVID-19 doses, if recommended by their provider.
You are up-to-date with COVID-19 vaccines after you have one dose of the most recent updated 2023/2024 COVID-19 vaccine, available now. Staying up-to-date ensures that you have protection against severe illness and death from the virus.
