Welcome, Nursing Moms!
To better serve Veterans who are also nursing moms, we opened a lactation pod at University Drive for Veterans and visitors to use if they breastfeed or pump. The private, freestanding room is located near Behavioral Health and the vaccine clinic.
For access, call 412-360-2487 or see the administrative officer on duty after hours/weekends.

New Benefits for Toxic Exposures
If you were exposed to toxic air, radiation, smoke, Agent Orange, burn pits and other environmental hazards during your service, you might be eligible for benefits and health care under the PACT Act. Under the act, VA has expanded health care and benefits for millions of Veterans and their survivors – including many Vietnam era, Gulf War era and Post-9/11 Veterans.
Don’t wait! Learn more about the PACT Act and apply for benefits by visiting PACT Act or calling 1-800-MY-VA-411.
Face Masks, Please
For your safety, we still require everyone in areas accessible to patients to wear face masks because CDC’s Community Transmission Level and VHA’s COVID-19 Health Protection Level are currently “high” or “medium” for all of our facilities.
Battling ALS
Army Veteran George Scott stays active despite having Lou Gehrig’s disease, or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Learn how the former coal miner continues to carve wooden toys for charity with the help of his wife and our Comprehensive Interdisciplinary Clinic.
Editor's note: Sadly, Mr. Scott died on April 19. We are grateful to him and his family for allowing us the honor of sharing his story.

Calling all Caregivers
Are you the caregiver for a Veteran? Stop by our 2023 Fourth Annual Caregiver and Family Resource Fair from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on our H.J. Heinz III campus to learn about various caregiver resources, meet with community partners, talk with fellow caregivers, enter to win gift baskets, and relax with music and recreation therapy.
Check in at the table outside Building 71 and then walk or roll to the outdoor Mason’s Pavilion. If it rains, check-in and events will move to the Learning Exchange inside Building 71.
Relationship Reboot
Are you looking to strengthen your relationship bonds with your significant other? Our April 29 Warrior to Soul Mate is a one-day workshop for Veterans and their partners to learn communication skills for renewing and reconnecting with one another.
