Working with several medical center directors over a span of 16 years, Wanda Lee is the Consumer Affairs Specialist and has been with the VANTHCS for 38 years and is viewed as one of the most knowledgeable employees about “all things VA.”
Ms. Lee has been a member of the Federal Women’s Program since 1989 and was Chair for the program for the past 11 years just turning over reigns this year. She is also an officer for and heads the VA Speakers Extradonaire Toastmasters Club at the Dallas campus.
“She is a one-stop shop when patients and employees need information and resolutions and she has the patience of Job,” shares one coworker. Putting a professional spin on even the worst circumstances, Lee reminds us that, “Sometimes Veterans are simply frustrated and need to let off steam, I just happen to be the one that is here for that release. One of the best lessons you can learn in life is to master how to remain calm.”

Stephanie Flores has been at the Dallas VA Medical Center for six months. During that time, she has shown genuine care for Veterans and was nominated for and received a WoW Award for exceptional customer service and fulfilling VA's ICARE Core Values.
"I didn't serve in the military, but my husband, brother, and cousin served in the Marine Corps. Being around them and hearing their service stories allows me to connect with our Veteran patients. Our Veterans gave up a lot for us; the least I can do is ensure they have a great experience when receiving care through Dental Service."

Cynthia Underwood and Lisa Bates have a job at the Fort Worth VA Clinic that encourages our Veterans to come in for their appointments. Each of them takes the time to explain to patients what is authorized by the VA making sure Veterans and their beneficiaries are reimbursed for eligible mileage expenses.
Bates’ husband is a retired service member, and she says she understands the sacrifices military service members made while on active duty. Patients are always greeted with a welcomed smile and the energetic personality of them both.
