Flu, also known as seasonal influenza, hospitalizes more than 226,000 people annually, but the good news is that it can be prevented. The first line of defense is to get vaccinated every year as the vaccine is updated annually. Veterans receiving care at VA San Diego Healthcare System facilities can schedule vaccinations in line with primary care appointments or visit one of the walk-in clinics through December 30, 2022.

Some Veterans may choose to double up by getting the latest COVID-19 booster shot at the same time. We offer the new, updated bivalent COVID-19 booster vaccines. Given the fast spread of the Omicron variant and significantly improved protection with prior boosters, getting an updated booster as soon as you are eligible is critical. And the primary series of COVID-19 vaccine is still available for those who have not yet been vaccinated. COVID-19 vaccinations will continue into 2023.
