Building Relationship health & safety DVAM

The Intimate Partner Violence Assistance Program Honors Relationship Wellness

October is recognized as National Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM). The Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Intimate Partner Violence Assistance Program (IPVAP) supports prevention, intervention and recovery for those impacted by intimate partner violence (IPV). In the United States, about 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men report experiencing IPV and the Veteran population is twice as likely as civilians to experience IPV. Intimate Partner Violence is a significant and preventable health concern for Veterans, their partners and VA staff.

Every relationship can benefit from enhancing communication and connectedness. VA is here to support and honor building relationship health and safety for life and is a confidential place to discuss questions, concerns or to seek assistance with relationship health and safety. Contact your local IPVAP Coordinator at (909) 825-7084 ext. 6964 or VA health care team to further explore relationship health and wellness events this DVAM 2022. Find help in the community by calling the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1−800−799−7233 (SAFE) or TTY 1−800−787−3224
