VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System Offering COVID-19 Bivalent Vaccines at Medical Center and Clinics

VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System is offering new, updated bivalent COVID-19 booster vaccines with the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccines. Given the fast spread of the Omicron variant and significantly improved protection with prior boosters, getting an updated booster as soon as you are eligible is critical. VA continues to offer the primary series of COVID-19 vaccine for those who have not yet been vaccinated with the Pfizer-BioNTech and Novavax COVID-19 vaccines.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently issued recommendations for getting a COVID-19 booster. The following people should get an updated booster:

  1. Individuals 18 years and older who completed primary series vaccination with two doses of Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna or Novavax COVID-19 vaccine at least 2 months ago, or with a Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine at least 2 months ago. People who received a booster dose at least 2 months ago are also eligible. These individuals can get either a Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna COVID-19 updated booster.
  2. Adolescents 12-17 years old who completed vaccination with a Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine or received a booster dose at least 2 months ago. Persons under age 18 can only get a Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for their initial series and for their updated booster.

Updated vaccine booster shots are available for VA employees and Veterans receiving care at VA. Vaccine booster shots are also available to all other Veterans, spouses, caregivers and CHAMPVA recipients under the authority of the SAVE LIVES Act, as supply and capacity permits.

Veterans are reminded COVID-19 vaccines are provided at no cost. VA also provides free COVID-19 testing to eligible Veterans. VA is open for appointments and many sites accept walk-ins during hours when vaccine clinics are operational. All persons coming in for a booster shot should bring their CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Card with them.

Vaccines are available at the LTC Charles S. Kettles VAMC and the following Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC). To schedule your COVID-19 Vaccine, please call the VA facility you’d like to receive your vaccine at using the phone numbers listed below:
