OVAHCS COVID-19 Operational Update

orl

Currently, the FDA and CDC have recommended a 2nd COVID-19 mRNA vaccine booster for individuals 50 years and older or moderately to severely immunocompromised regardless of age. Please visit: COVID-19 Vaccine Boosters | CDC to see if you qualify.

Who can get a 2nd COVID-19 vaccine booster shot at VA?

We offer the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna booster vaccines to Veterans receiving care at VA and VA employees, and spouses, caregivers, and CHAMPVA recipients under the authority of the SAVE LIVES Act, as supply and capacity permits.

Specially 2nd booster doses of Pfizer or Moderna are available to:

  • All eligible Veterans ages 50+ at least 4 months after their first booster.
  • All individuals who are moderately to severely immunocompromised and received a first booster more than 4 months ago.

How do I schedule an appointment?

You can schedule an appointment by calling your Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT). Please note that there must be a minimum interval of four months between the first booster dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Please make sure to bring your CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card! This is particularly important if your initial series was given outside of VA.

Appointments are strongly encouraged but limited walk-ins will be honored as capacity and vaccine supply allows.

The primary and booster COVID-19 vaccine injections are currently available at the clinics listed below.
