COVID-19 Vaccinations: Still Available!
The Miami VA Healthcare System is offering COVID-19 Vaccinations at all locations during regular business hours - appointments are encouraged, but not required. Talk to your provider today to learn more!
Due to COVID-19, no visitors are allowed; unless preapproved for end of life situations or clinical necessity. This includes children and babies. Everyone entering our facilities is screened and face masks are mandatory.
Veterans should check-in for scheduled appointments from the safety of their vehicle by sending the word "here" to 53079. This will notify your care team that you are at the facility waiting to be called into your appointment. You must use a cellphone that is on file in your electronic health record.
Supporting Gulf War Veterans - 2022 SHIELD Conference
Nova Southeastern University's Institute for Neuro-Immune Medicine and the Gulf War Illness Clinical Trials and Interventions Center (GWICTIC) is excited to announce the 2022 Sustained Homeostatic Imbalance due to Environmental exposure Linked to Deployment, or SHIELD Conference to inform Gulf War Veterans of new research and findings in the field of Gulf War Illness.
This free conference will be held virtually via zoom on Friday, February 25, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. EST. Speakers in attendance are national authorities in Gulf War illness such as Dr. Nancy Klimas and Dr. Kimberly Sullivan, as well as other experts in the field with a wealth of experience in Gulf War Illness and related conditions. This event will provide both information and resources to the community as well as generate partnerships and create connections between Veterans and clinical research professionals

LGBTQ+ Veterans - Make Your Voice Heard!
The Miami VA Healthcare System is partnering with Gilda’s Club South Florida to better understand the needs and preferences of the lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and gender diverse Veteran communities in South Florida with respect to cancer prevention, care, and support. This brief anonymous survey is designed to gather valuable information that will inform the work of Gilda’s Club’s Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender & Gender Diverse Cancer Collaborative. Please share your experiences and perspectives by voluntarily completing this survey. Please know that your time and input are most important and greatly appreciated.
The Gulf War Illness Clinical Trials and Interventions Center (GWICTIC) is excited to present their newest study, “TNF and Glucocorticoid Antagonist for GWI-Associated Multi-Symptom Disease Homeostasis Reset”, for veterans who were deployed to Operation Desert Shield and/or Operation Desert Storm at the Miami VA in order evaluate the effects of a combination therapy in changing the bodies “sick response” of GWI into a more permanently healthy condition.
“TNF and Glucocorticoid Antagonist for GWI-Associated Multi-Symptom Disease Homeostasis Reset,” is currently recruiting 20 volunteers who were deployed to Operation Desert Shield and/or Operation Desert Storm. Researchers understanding of environmental exposure illnesses and care for Veterans can only be improved with advances in science and healthcare with the willingness of volunteers that take part in clinical research. Additionally, by participating in ongoing clinical research that is focused upon Gulf War Illness (GWI); a Persian Gulf War Veteran may learn how to have improved conversations with their Primary Care Team and be an integral participant in a health care plan.
