| Effective Wednesday, December 29, 2021, Manchester VAMC applied significant changes to our visitor policy.
VISITORS:
- No visitors will be allowed to accompany the majority of Veterans to their appointments.
- No children (any under age 18) will be allowed in the medical center.
- Veterans who meet the following criteria will be allowed one (1) adult visitor or caregiver to accompany them to their appointments.
- Specifically, Veterans in the following categories will meet this limited criterion:
- Those who are deaf or blind
- Significant Cognitive Impairment
- End of life /poor prognosis discussions
If you don’t fall into the category above, we are not able to allow these visitors into the building. We ask that care teams consider allowing the Veteran to “phone in” their spouse/friend/caregiver to participate during the appointment as needed telephonically. This will feel like a big change to both our care teams and our Veterans, but it is necessary at this time to reduce the number of people in the medical center for everyone’s safety.
Thank you for your cooperation as we continue to make changes to our operations with safety always a top priority.
