Lovell FHCC COVID-19 Operational Updates
Due to the rise in COVID-19 rates in the community and at our facilities, the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center is now implementing our COVID-19 surge protective measures. More details appear below and on our website.
Critical patient services are continuing at Lovell FHCC as regularly scheduled, unless the patient is contacted by Lovell FHCC staff (more information appears below). In some cases, patients may be asked to postpone less-urgent procedures in an effort to reduce foot-traffic in our facilities and help stop the spread of the omicron variant.
All are required to wear face masks over their mouths and noses while on hospital campus grounds and while attending appointments.
Visitation Policy Update
To preserve the health and safety of our patients, staff and community as much as possible, visitation is restricted at all Lovell FHCC facilities as of Jan. 3.
No visitors are allowed in our Community Living Centers and Green House Homes, or inpatient units, due to the surge in COVID-19 cases. Exceptions may be allowed on a case-by-case basis for compassionate care circumstances or in the case of medical necessity.
Lovell FHCC will continue to monitor its own COVID-19 infection rates, and community spread, and adjust this visitation policy accordingly.
Appointments
We also ask our patients to arrive alone for appointments. If medically necessary, one companion may be allowed.
If you have an upcoming elective surgery or endoscopy procedure, you may be contacted to reschedule.
Please reschedule your routine appointments if you are displaying symptoms of COVID-19 (which are similar to symptoms the common cold in the case of the omicron variant - visit the CDC website for more details). If you are unsure about the urgency of your procedure or appointment, or need further guidance, contact your primary care provider.
COVID-19 Vaccinations
COVID-19 vaccination appointments will continue for first and second doses of Pfizer/Moderna, and booster doses. We urge all vaccinated patients, 16 and up, to schedule booster shots as soon as possible. Call 224-610-3899 to schedule a vaccine appointment at the main hospital in North Chicago.
Adult vaccinations are given in Bldg. 133CA (park in the four-story garage, come in the main Ambulatory Care Clinic entrance, follow the signs and check in by Radiology/Imaging on the second floor). Don’t forget your vaccination card.
