COVID Boosters & Pediatric Shots Available this Saturday at Lovell


The Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center has COVID-19 vaccination appointments available this Saturday, Dec. 11, from 8 a.m. - noon, at our main North Chicago facility located at 3001 Green Bay Road. The Saturday vaccine clinic, for both adults and pediatric patients, will be in Bldg. 133EF Family Practice Clinic.

Make sure to bring your CDC COVID-19 Vaccination card to your appointment. 

To schedule TRICARE pediatric patients ages 5-11, call 1-800-941-4501. All other VA and TRICARE patients, call 224-610-3899.

Our enrolled veteran and Dept. of Defense (TRICARE adult & pediatric 5 & older) patients, as well as unenrolled veterans, their spouses and caregivers (11 and older), can get their vaccines through Lovell FHCC.  All can schedule appointments on weekdays and Saturday, Dec. 11, at our North Chicago hospital. Unenrolled Veterans and caregivers should visit our website for more information about enrollment, which is required before scheduling.

Booster Shots:

  • Booster doses are for people who received the Moderna or Pfizer two-dose series, or one J & J dose, but their immune response may have weakened over time.
  • Lovell FHCC currently is administering booster doses to patients 18 and older, per the recent CDC and FDA announcement.
  • The booster shots are given a minimum of six months after patients completed the two-dose series of an mRNA vaccine or at least two months after receiving the Janssen (J & J) vaccine.

  • Lovell FHCC is administering booster shots by appointment. Call 224-610-3899 to schedule an appointment at the main hospital. 
  • Veterans who received their first COVID-19 vaccinations elsewhere may get booster shots at Lovell FHCC after registering if they are not already Lovell FHCC patients.
  • Veterans' spouses and caregivers may get booster shots as well.
  • NOTE: A COVID-19 vaccination card must be provided.

Pediatric patients: 

  • This includes TRICARE beneficiaries and family member caregivers of veterans ages 12 and up. They must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and may schedule an appointment, between 8-11:30 a.m. and 1-3 p.m., Thursdays, in the Immunizations Clinic in the Ambulatory Care Clinic, Bldg. 133EF. Saturday appointments in the Family Practice are available Dec. 11.

  • NEW: TRICARE pediatric COVID-19 vaccines for children 5-11 have been approved by the CDC. We are currently providing the COVID-19 vaccine to TRICARE patients, ages 5-11, the same dates and times as 12-17-year-olds (see above).

First & Second Doses of COVID-19 Vaccine

  • We also are continuing to give first and second doses (Pfizer and Moderna) of the COVID-19 vaccine to those who still need it. Appointments are preferred. Call 224-610-3899 to schedule.
