VA Community Care Network For Fu Vaccines

VA Eastern Kansas Header - News and Announcements - Final

Good Morning, Veterans

See below information about VA’s Community Care Network (CCN) and the Flu Vaccine:

The VA no longer contracts for free flu shots at Walgreens.  Enrolled Veterans can get a FREE flu shot on a walk-in basis at any in-network retail pharmacy or urgent care clinic in the VA’s Community Care Network (CCN).   Community care flu shots are available to eligible Veterans who are enrolled in the VA health care system AND who have received care at either a VA facility or a VA-referred community provider within the past 24 months.  Veterans can receive a flu shot without prior authorization. Vaccine arrival dates vary by location.  It may be helpful to call first to confirm vaccine availability.

When you arrive:

  • Tell staff that you are a Veteran enrolled in VA health care and would like to get a flu shot paid for by the VA.
  • Show your VA ID card.
  • Either print a copy of the VA Billing Information Card to take with you or take a photo of it and have it viewable on your mobile device. The card helps to ensure that community providers know about the VA’s program if they are unfamiliar, and also that no questions or issues with billing arise.

To locate a CCN site, use the online VA Facility Locator Tool

If You Receive a Flu Shot at Any Community Location:

Please notify your team directly or send a SECURE MESSAGE using My Health-E-Vet and leave a message which includes your name, last 4 digits of SSN, and the date and location you received the vaccine so your medical record can be updated.  Bringing your vaccine information to your scheduled appointments is always appreciated so your record can be updated.

Protect yourself and others – receive your FREE yearly flu vaccine!

At your next scheduled visit, also be sure your pneumonia vaccine is up to date.
