Veterans Health Administration sent this bulletin at 10/15/2021 01:05 PM EDT
Dear VA Maryland Health Care System E-News Subscribers:
The VA and community retail pharmacies are now offering the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine boosters under Emergency Use Authorization. This decision follows the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) announcement authorizing a booster dose of Pfizer vaccine and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) recommendations to offer booster shots.
People aged 65 years and older, or 50–64 years with underlying medical conditions, who received a Pfizer COVID-19 primary vaccine series at least six months ago are encouraged to receive a booster shot. People 18-49 years old with underlying medical conditions who received the Pfizer COVID-19 primary vaccine series at least six months ago may receive the booster shot. If you are eligible based on these criteria, you can schedule an appointment to receive a booster shot in your local community or at a VA Maryland Health Care System facility.
Scheduling an Appointment in Your Local Community:
To find multiple locations where you can receive the booster near you, visit the CDC Vaccine Finder website at www.vaccinefinder.org, or call 1-800-232-0233. Please make sure to have your CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card available to schedule a booster shot and follow the instructions provided. After receiving a booster shot in your local community, please bring your COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card to your next scheduled primary care appointment or upload it to your MyHealtheVet account.
Scheduling an Appointment at the VA Maryland Health Care System:
Call the VA Maryland Health Care System’s Appointment Center Monday-Friday between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. at 410-605-7333 to schedule an appointment to receive a booster shot at the Baltimore VA Medical Center, the Perry Point VA Medical Center or the Cambridge VA Outpatient Clinic.
