KCVA to begin flu vaccinations at drive-thru clinics
Veterans Health Administration sent this bulletin at 09/08/2021 01:51 PM EDT
Veterans,
Flu season is rapidly approaching, and all enrolled Veterans can receive no-cost, no-copayment flu vaccinations through the Kansas City VA Medical Center’s (KCVA) Drive-Thru Flu Clinics every weekend from Sep. 18 – Oct. 3, 2021. The clinics are operated in the KCVA Medical Center parking lot just inside the E. 35th Street entrance (see map below).

The CDC recommends everyone older than six months receive the annual flu vaccine. Getting the flu vaccination is more important than ever during the combined influenza season and COVID-19 pandemic. People co-infected with influenza B virus and coronavirus have a higher risk of developing poor health outcomes.
For your convenience, drive-thru flu clinic hours of operation are Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sept. 18, 19, 25 and 26 and Oct. 2 and 3. The KCVA staff will be there come rain or shine in the large drive-thru tent to make sure every enrolled Veteran is provided a flu vaccination.
Flu vaccinations provide the best protection against influenza and help in reducing influenza-associated illness and hospitalization. Be sure to bring your Veteran ID card and wear clothing that allows the staff to reach your upper arm. We are also offering the COVID-19 Pfizer vaccine at these drive-thru clinics for any Veteran who would like to receive the COVID vaccine in addition to the Flu vaccine.
Do your part – get the flu shot!
Lisa R. Curnes, MHA
Interim Medical Center Director
*Additional drive-thru flu vaccination clinics at the KCVA Community-Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC) will be posted on our Facebook page.
