Time is of the essence. The Delta variant, which has caused many hospitalizations and deaths across India, spreads faster than other variants. According to the CDC, there is the additional concern that some of the medical treatments we use to treat COVID-19 may be less effective against this variant.
The good news is that the COVID-19 vaccines currently in use in the United States offer good protection against the COVID-19 causing virus variants we know most. This news indicates that complete vaccination can prevent unnecessary deaths and hospitalization.
