KCVA Updates: COVID-19 vaccine available at all KCVA Community Clinics and universal masking update
Kansas City VA Medical Center (KCVA) now offers COVID-19 vaccines at all KCVA Community Outpatient Clinics in the Kansas City Metro and surrounding communities to provide convenient vaccination opportunities. If you would like to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, please get in touch with your respective primary care clinic for availability and schedule an appointment, or you can walk in and receive the vaccine.
Additionally, KCVA now offers COVID vaccines to Veterans receiving inpatient care at our main campus at 4801 Linwood Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64128.
All Veterans, regardless of enrollment status, are eligible for the vaccine. Additionally, Veteran’s family members and caregivers are eligible for vaccinations without an appointment. This includes Adolescents, ages 12-17, who can receive the Pfizer vaccine at the Honor Annex on Fridays. A legal guardian must accompany the adolescent and provide the adolescent’s full SSN to receive the vaccine.
Adolescents vaccinations are available to Veteran caregivers and those who qualify as beneficiaries under VA’s Civilian Health and Medical Program. The expansion is in line with recent recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Food and Drug Administration.
Appointments are highly encouraged to limit wait times and guarantee vaccine availability but, not required. Veterans can also call their respective primary care clinics to schedule a vaccination appointment for their family members and caregivers.
Mask Reminder: All staff, visitors, Veterans, and contractors must wear a mask in all KCVA owned or leased spaces. Throughout the pandemic, we have followed CDC guidelines and recommendations. To prevent further spread of the Delta variant, the CDC has updated its mask guidance to recommend that fully vaccinated people wear masks indoors when in areas with substantial and high transmission of COVID-19. Kansas City metro is one of those areas. All staff, visitors, Veterans, and contractors must wear a mask in all KCVA owned or leased spaces.
