Kansas City VA Health Fair and COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic
The Kansas City VA Medical Center (KCVA) continually looks for ways to reach more Veterans with the vital health care and information they need to make informed healthcare decisions and improve healthcare outcomes. The KCVA health fair and COVID-19 vaccine clinic in Plattsburg, Missouri, on May 3 is another example of these continuous outreach efforts.
All Veterans, and their families, across the northern Kansas City metro and beyond are invited to attend this free health fair. Our theme is “Spring for Health, Take Your First Step Today!” Doors open at 10 a.m. and healthcare professionals, enrollment, eligibility and benefit experts, whole health & preventive health coordinators, community care counselors, and more will be on hand right up to closing at 4 p.m., according to the KCVA Associate Medical Center Director, Paula Roychaudhuri. Specialized services such as medical screenings, disease management, health education, and medication counseling will also be offered.
“Additionally, we will be providing the one-dose, Janssen (also known as the Johnson & Johnson) COVID-19 vaccine to every Veteran, Veteran’s family members, or Veteran’s caregiver, over the age of 18, during the health fair,” said Roychaudhuri. “So not only is this an excellent opportunity for Veterans to learn more about VA healthcare and benefits, but they can also help in the fight to knock-out the Coronavirus with just one shot.”
The vaccine clinic and health fair are at the Plattsburg High School, 800 W. Frost St., Plattsburg, MO 64477.
“We have opened all vaccine clinics to walk-ins” said Roychaudhuri. “Appointments are still highly encouraged to guarantee a vaccine dose, but KCVA will provide vaccinations to any Veteran, family member or caregiver on a ‘first come, first served’ basis if they walk-in to one of our vaccine clinics.”
Veterans can call 816-922-2619 to schedule a vaccination appointment.
“We have administered more than 40,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses to date, and during this week’s Plattsburg health fair and vaccine clinic, we have another 500 doses of the J&J vaccine available for area Veterans,” Roychaudhuri said.
The COVID-19 pandemic has placed healthcare and wellness at the forefront of many people’s minds. This event is an excellent opportunity to learn even more about all the healthcare advantages offered by the Kansas City VA Medical Center, according to Roychaudhuri.
“Our healthcare professionals have battled this deadly pandemic and helped thousands of area Veterans stay healthy during these challenging times,” said Roychaudhuri. “This was and continues to be no small task, and now all Veterans can do their part to defeat this virus and #reclaimthesummer.”
KCVA encourages all Veterans to spring for health and take your first step today.
