Outpatient Pharmacy Temporarily Closed for Mass Vaccinations - February 6,7,27, & 28

Veterans,

Thank you for choosing the Durham VA Health Care System. We hope you are staying safe by wearing a mask and following CDC guidelines. We are preparing for a mass vaccination of Veterans, which will take place on February 6th -7th (first dose) and February 27th-28th (second dose). Veterans enrolled in the Durham VA Health Care System may schedule an appointment for the COVID-19 Vaccine by calling 919-286-0411, then “0” to speak with a scheduler.  

We are currently vaccinating Veterans in phases 1A through 1C as defined by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Only Veterans who fall into these categories are being vaccinated at this time. Vaccinations are by appointment only. As more vaccine becomes available, we will be reaching out to more Veterans. Please go here for more information on what groups of Veterans are in Phase 1A-1C.   

Also, to prepare for the mass vaccination, outpatient pharmacy in Durham will be “temporarily closed” for routine care during the mass vaccination events. Emergency medication needs will be evaluated by clinical pharmacists and met appropriately through placing medication orders for mail out.  

Prescriptions Mail is always preferred.   

Here are the options to order prescriptions by mail.   

Medication order online:

            1. Go to http://www.myhealth.va.gov/

            2. Log into My HealtheVet or register if a new member  

            3. Create a Premium My HealtheVet Account   

            4. Once logged into website, select Prescription Refill and follow prompts on screen

Ordering medication through the phone:

  1. Call (888) 878-6890 extension 5888 or (919)416-5888 at least 2 weeks before you are out of medicines
  2. Enter your full Social Security Number followed by #   
  3. Press 2 for medication information   
  4. Press 1 to refill a prescription    
  5. Enter the entire prescription number followed by #   
  6. Continue to follow prompts for another prescription order.   

Be sure to continue to mask up and to follow CDC guidelines, even after receiving your vaccinations. The COVID-19 vaccinations are another layer of protection for our Veterans. By following CDC guidelines you are reducing the chances of acquiring or spreading COVID-19.
