On Jan. 15, 2021, all Alaska VA Healthcare System (AVAHS) facilities will or have begun offering the COVID-19 Vaccine, Moderna to Veterans.
The Alaska VA Anchorage Clinic has offered employees, high-risk Veterans and Veterans 85 and older the opportunity to be vaccinated as we work through this high-risk pandemic. Anchorage is ready to offer the next opportunity to Veterans 75 years and older.
Veterans 75 and older in the Anchorage area can call (907)257-4700, press option 2 then option 1 to get scheduled for the COVID Vaccine. Please understand the COVID Vaccine is given in two doses (28 days after the first dose). Anchorage will also be offering two Saturday COVID vaccine clinics for Veterans on Jan. 23 and Jan. 30 by appointment only.
The Alaska VA Anchorage Clinic is the only facility offering this call-in option at this time.
For Veterans that are being seen out in the community, they can now call the nearest VA facility to schedule their COVID-19 vaccination.
We are constantly reviewing our COVID-19 vaccination process and looking for opportunities to maximize with the widest and quickest methods to provide the vaccination to Veterans.
When more information is available, AVAHS will let Veterans know of areas administering vaccines to Veterans via its website, email distribution, social media, and other media.
