Flu Shot Updates
It's time to receive your flu vaccination at Lovell FHCC - both at our main hospital and at our Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) in Kenosha, Wis., and Evanston and McHenry, Ill.
Veterans may receive flu vaccinations if they are enrolled for care with the Department of Veterans Affairs. Eligible veterans with proof of service (e.g. Form DD214) may enroll for care at all of our locations.
There will be no walk-in flu shots this year due to COVID-19 precautions. Patients with Primary Care appointments scheduled at our main hospital or at one of our CBOCs will be offered flu shots at that time.
UPDATE: You can now schedule a flu shot appointment for our main facility, one of our CBOCs, or for the Saturday Flu Shot clinic by calling one scheduling line! Call 224-610-3899 to schedule.
Visit our FHCC Influenza page for more information.

Everyone gets screened. When VHA Executive in Charge, Dr. Richard Stone, visited earlier in the year he received the same screening that all patients, staff, and visitors receive. Photo by Mass Communication Specialist Seaman Apprentice Minh-Thy H. Chu.
We are monitoring the number of coronavirus cases nationally and in our community very closely. To help prevent the spread of COVID-19 we would like to remind you of the following protective protocals at our facility:
- Masks are required for all.
- Come alone to your appointment if possible. Please only bring a companion if medically necessary.
- Maintain your physical distance from others when in the facility. Please allow for at least 6 feet separation when indoors.
- We have moved our COVID-19 screening indoors. We are asking all of our patients and guests to please enter through one of following entrances: Blue Canopy entrance by the Canteen, entrance to Building 133EF at the Quarterdeck, Building 131 (Mental Health Building) and the tramway entrance to Building 135.
This year, veterans may get a flu shot at many local pharmacies.
- At CVS pharmacy, the immunization information is transferred directly to Lovell FHCC. It’s less travel,
less hassle! Veterans enrolled for VA health care can walk into their nearest CVS and get a regular dose shot, through March 2020. Veterans are asked to show photo ID and their Veteran ID card.
- Veterans 65 and older who want to go to CVS to receive FLUAD, a trivalent vaccine specially formulated
to stimulate a greater immune response, will have to pay out-of-pocket or file with their third-party insurance.
- Veterans may visit the VA’s Public Health site https://www.prevention.va.gov/flu/ to find a pharmacy
near them that is providing free flu shots for veterans.
- Learn more about getting your shot in the community from VA Community Care at website.
