May 21 Update - Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System Taking Extra Precautions for COVID-19
Veterans Health Administration sent this bulletin at 05/21/2020 06:42 PM EDT
The Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System is taking measures to protect patients and staff from the spread of COVID-19.
As a reminder, we have instituted the following policies at all of our sites of care.
* Only patients will be permitted inside our facilities for any reason. The only exception is for essential caregivers. Visitors/guests are not allowed in any site of care at this time.
* Outpatients should come to VA appointments alone, if possible.
* We will use telecommunications and video conferencing to include family members in medical decision-making at the patient’s request.
* No one under the age of 18 is permitted.
*Please call 1-800-935-8387 if you wish to speak with your relative or friend who is in the hospital or if you have questions. If you are currently experiencing any symptoms, we ask that you call in advance of coming to the facility.
Please help us and your fellow Veterans, loved ones and those who may be at risk by following these guidelines to limit the spread of COVID-19, flu and other illnesses. Thank you for your cooperation and support during this changing time and, as always, thank you for your service.
Fernando O. Rivera, FACHE
