To Veterans and Visitors:

Effective immediately, VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System is putting in place new procedures to reduce the risk of COVID-19 (coronavirus) transmission. The following actions have been taken:

  • No visitors under the age of 18 will be allowed into our care facilities.
  • Veterans who have medical appointments will be allowed to enter our facilities after passing a brief screening.
  • Veterans will be allowed one escort to accompany them, and the escort will be allowed to enter our care facilities after passing a brief screening.
  • All visitors will be restricted from visiting residents in our Domiciliary and Community Living Centers except for hospice and palliative care.
  • Hospitalized inpatients are allowed one visitor who must first check-in at the nursing station after passing a brief screening.
  • Vendors and delivery personnel will be allowed access to our care facilities, after passing a brief screening, if the delivery is required for patient care needs.
  • Veterans or staff who do not have business at our care facilities will be asked to leave the premises. This is being done to increase social distancing in our healthcare system.

Entrances at our main hospital building (Building 500 on the West LA campus), are still limited to two locations: the main entrance (north side) and the east entrance (Emergency Department).

These actions are being taken to ensure the safety of our Veterans, staff, and visitors in this rapidly changing environment. For more information on VA's response to COVID-19, please visit https://www.va.gov/coronavirus/

Thank you.
