Clinical Educator Grant Program is Open for Applications from VISN 16 and 17 Mental Health Providers
Our FY20 Clinical Educator Grant Program is now accepting applications. Mental health clinicians, researchers, evaluators, and educators in VISN 16 and VISN 17 or those collaborating with VISN 16 or VISN 17 mental health staff members are eligible to apply.
Awardees create products that improve mental health care for rural and other underserved Veterans, such as clinical tools, training programs, and evidence-based treatment manuals.
Not in VISNs 16 or 17? You can still benefit from this program by accessing our collection of free products, including a chronic pain pocket guide, a PTSD and TBI medication management pocket card, integrated behavioral health treatment manuals, a suicide and safety planning manual, and more.

VA Clinicians Share Perspectives on Creating a Center for Innovation in The New England Journal of Medicine
A recent article in The New England Journal of Medicine highlights the perspectives of three VA providers on the creation of a Center of Innovation for Care and Payment as a part of the VA Maintaining Internal Systems and Strengthening Integrated Outside Networks (MISSION) Act. The authors' recommendations on protecting against overprovision of care, prioritizing specific care modules, and prioritizing conditions common among Veterans for early pilot programs, such as expanding telemental health services, are potential research opportunities for SC MIRECC investigators.

VISN 16 & 17 Researchers Can Request to Present to Our Consumer Advisory Board
The Consumer Advisory Board (CAB) advises the SC MIRECC and Mental Health Product Lines (MHPLs) in VISNs 16 and 17 about the development of educational programs, research materials, and improvement of clinical services to benefit Veterans. It also educates Veterans, consumers and their families about MIRECC and MHPL accomplishments
The SC MIRECC CAB can give feedback on a range of topics to VISN 16 and 17 researchers seeking funding from competitive grant agencies and those seeking pilot study or education grants from SC MIRECC. Because many CAB members live in rural areas, their feedback is especially useful for researchers seeking SC MIRECC funding, which targets rural and other underserved Veterans.
We have openings for presenters on 6/5, 7/3, 8/7, 9/4, 11/6, and 12/4.
