New Orleans Site Update
There has been a lot of growth at our New Orleans site. Learn about the new research building at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System (SLVHCS) as well new grants, collaborations, employees, and research highlights, including the opening of the From War to Home exhibit at SLVHCS about Veterans and family-caregivers experiences of living with a traumatic brain injury.

2018 MI Training Evaluation Results
We hosted a motivational interviewing (MI) training for 42 VISN 16 and 17 counselors, social workers, nurses, psychologists, and physicians in September. The training highlighted MI principles, practical guidelines, and counseling micro-skills essential to proficient practice. Learn what participants thought about the training and how they will put what they learned into practice.

 Research to Practice: Using Implementation Science to Enhance Health Disparity Research
Drs. Eva Woodward and Geoffrey Curran co-authored a 2017 article about how applying implementation science frameworks to health disparity research could speed up the benefit of equity. Read Research to Practice for a breakdown of the article and its recommendations.

 FY2019 Education Needs Survey Announcement
We encourage VISN 16 and 17 mental health providers to complete our annual education and training needs survey. This 5-minute survey helps us provide network-wide trainings based on your needs and priorities. The deadline to finish the survey is October 30.

VISN 16 researchers and researchers located in San Antonio or Dallas, Texas (VISN 17) who are interested in pilot funding for research that can be used to develop clinical policy or programs that improve access, quality and outcomes of mental health and substance use treatment services for rural and/or underserved Veterans are invited to submit an application to the SC MIRECC Pilot Study Research Program.
Implementation, Design and Analysis Support Available for Affiliates
MIRECC Implementation, Design and Analysis Support (MIDAS) offers centralized design, methodologic and analytic support to VISN 16 investigators and investigators located in San Antonio or Dallas, Texas (VISN 17) who are seeking intramural or extramural funding or conducting pilot projects.
